Government Grants

 in response to commonpatriot...

OMG! you couldn't have taken the words out of my mouth I personally think they all need to go to a money management class which are offered free in various places and post all of the other places they spend their money like McDonald's or a bar or on stuff they want instead of need.  I do without I only post my situation I don't expect anybody to actually help, considering the economy the way it is and the fact that nobody actually ever has.  My own parents have never even helped me, when I was 15 years old I went and got a work permit so I didn't have to hear my Mother complaining about how much money I costed her which was for food that she got food stamps for so I went and got a damn job!

My Father would never help us but when he married another woman with children helped them buy vehicles or whatever they wanted.  Kind of used to doing on my own which is hard but it's life and that is why I went back to school for a furthered education to draw more income than Social Security/Disability is providing us with.  Even them they won't even release my son's money for his medical equipment I have requested with proper documentation 4 to 5 times or return my phone calls.  I tried to report her and they told me it won't do any good what is that supposed to mean?  I have a handicapped child awarded this money by a judge and he can't have because one woman cannot do her job properly I am blown out of the water by this and quite angry but there is something I can do about too and I will.  I can alway go to the senator whom lives to cities over and I happen to know exactly where.

Government Grants

in response to Bro Ricky...   Well I don't have the answer to that but if you find out I would love to own my own apartment complex which would house others and be my own business.  My score looks like have bad credit because it is low because I have never financed anything except a rent-to-own shed and paid it off.  Therefore I can't get a mortgage for a business through a bank and the SBA will not loan for realty.  If they would I would have a business and still be going for my degree.  I found some site but I refuse to pay for a service with no guarantees and I am not giving my debit card number over the internet when I don't have money for that, especially when their are so many scam artists now days it's ridiculously unbelievable.

Update on our status

Well I am still going to get my accounting degree but am consindering going one summer term and earning a double major by taking extra courses throughout my enrollment and still graduate on expected date.  Just like everybody else I do not have money for college and I am only eligible for a full pell grant this semester and next, but there are other funding options that do not involve student loans:  1)  scholorships 2) Vocational rehab for the disabled students 3) work-study 4) scholorships through student alumni house instead of financial aid.  Then lastly resort to student loans, but being an Accounting student and on a fixed income myself you are going to want to enjoy making your money when you graduate and not have to spend it all paying back loans which are due 1st payment 6months after you graduate depending on what type of loan you get, so I would advise anybody to avoid those if at all possible.  Sometimes you just don't have a choice and that is understandable as well but when you don't think and just do that is when you get yourself into a bind and then ask everybody else for a bailout (not fair to others).

Government Grants

in response to William44...   First of all you have to apply for a grant before you can get a student loan so I would have used my grant for school and my student loan to live on.  If you needed the student loan for the difference in funding for school tuiton, books, etc... you could have applied for an unsubsidized loan which is not based on the amount that you need for school which will also get you through on your financial needs basis for living costs.  FYI food for thought.

in response to looking for housing assistance...   I haven't heard of that but I just got off of the HUD.gov site and you can get a home loan with a 1% down payment for your home loan.  If you haven't already signed documents for loan you may want to check them out instead.

Update on our status

My son's Autism is acting up and he has been hospitalized for a viral breakout called Erythymamultiforma or something like that.  It has occured twice and we had to take him to an allergy Dr. today that want to see him back in three weeks and keep an eye on him before he makes a determination.

I am enrolled full-time as an Accouting student at a Community College to get my Associates Degree.  My husband was going to college also when he was involved in an accident on campus with a construction company and now he may possibly have to have another neck surgery which he has no insurance by the way.  He has applied for disability and was denied after he has had 4 major surgeries.  He had to get an attorney that is getting nothing done, and the local disability office here is horrible.  I can't even get the medical equipment for my son with his back pay that I have requested with all of the proper documents 4 times.

Even if my husband is approved for disability they are going to cut mine and my sons payments in half so my husband will get payments and benefits.  So, when I figured it out it comes out to maybe $100 more per month plus medicade that is almost usless and with this reform issue may be useless before too long.

If I can continue going to school and graduate on time as I planned I will be more than greatful to not have to deal with the burden of trying to get out money from the disability office when we are in need of it, but still I will not graduate until May of 2011.

We currently owe 15,500.00 on our home and I had to go to a place called PRVO to help with the electric bill so I can save for a few Christmas gifts for my son with all of our bills.  I have to have the internet for school because I take some of my tests online even thought I chose to go to school on campus I was unaware of this at the time, so that is an extra bill.  I have to have a home phone and cell phone because I have an Autistic son and a handicapped husband that is worse off than myself.  We can only own one vehicle because of some rule that the SSA told me they had.

I am only eligible for a pell grant for this semester and next hopefully I can get funding without having to take out any student loans to put ourselves into more debt.  I would love to own an apartment complex and manage it, I can do my own bookkeeping and I have managerial skills as well but the SBA does not make loans for realty and I don't have good enough credit to get a mortgage through a bank in fact I have poor credit so that is out of the question.

I am still being sued but have not heard a word about anything else since I hired an attorney.  The woman suing me keeps trespassing on my property which is really ticking me off because she is doing it behind my back while only speaking to my husband until I caught her the other day and told her to stay off of our property and contact my attorney if she has something to say.  Then I e-mailed my attorney asking if I should press charges or if he can take care of it and I haven't heard anything about that.  I didn't pay this man to ignore me when I didn't have the money to pay to start with, but I had to protect my home and family from what could happen.

I put an add to try and sell our home and move but the real estate market is at rock bottom, so nobody is buying right now and nobody has even inquired and it has been months since I did that.  I don't want to move because it will trigger my son's Autism but I don't want to live next door to a person that will always cause conflict either and definetly don't want my son around all of that drama.

I am really stressed out from all of this and my course load at school then next semester I am taking more hours than this semester so I can try to graduate as soon as I can so I can get a job and start making decent income to support my family better.  I cannot stand to struggle and it is really taking an emotional toll on me and I think that I may be taking it out on my family at times and don't realize it and don't mean too and don't mean it.

in response to Trying to get somewhere...   That is never going to happen especially with out economy the way it is.  I have poor credit and income with collateral and still can't get a loan to start a business that would draw income to pay it's own mortgage off.

About Wheeler56

The only improvement grants that I have found that are available and leggit are for the elderly I think 63 or 64 years old and it is for around 7500.00 through the USDA.gov site.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I have looked at grants.gov which is another leggit site there just aren't any grants right now.
